A Christmas story
One of my personal favourites holiday movies. released on November 18 1983, it's a story about a boy named Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) who dreams of a Christmas gift, a Red Ryder B.B. gun. Rahlphie mentions it about 28 times in the movie. To Santa, his teacher, tells everyone & anyone. Whom all have the same response "you'll shoot you're eye out!"
Another memorable line, The Old man (Darren McGavin) receives a Major Award. The box has fragile written, "Fra-Jee-lay! Must be Italian!" The Old man. The Major Award was the infamous Lady Leg with fishnet stockings lamp. The snowsuits scene brings me back to my child memories.
The story comes from a Jean Shepherd book “In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash” a collection of short stories written for Playboy. It took director Bob Clark & writer Jean Shepherd almost 10 years to complete the concept of the film.
Some of the film where shoot in Toronto, Ontario locations used Chop Suey Palace 744 Gerrard St East, Fight with Farkas and bully chase 64 Sears st, The Tree Lot 232 Queen st west here the car brakes down & the Cherry st bridge w Other Ontario locations Central Senior Public School in Lindsay, and the famous tongue scene at Victoria School in St. Catharines.
